The donate pile
Solid wood dressers with working drawers, matching nightstand pairs, intact headboards, and complete bedroom sets are the most requested furniture donations in the country, because families setting up homes need storage and beds before anything else. The sell pile
Real wood pieces from known makers, mid century anything, and lightly used sets hold resale value. Particle board flat pack furniture generally does not, its second hand price rounds to free. If a listing has not moved in a week at a fair price, it was a donate or haul item wearing a price tag.
The haul pile
Broken frames, tipped over dressers, water damaged pieces, and anything a charity would decline. Metal components route to scrap recovery, wood to recycling or disposal.
